Twin-Task lights have both a xenon and LED bulbs

The Twin-Task flashlights feature a patented xenon/LED dual light source. You can choose between the super bright xenon bulb for high intensity lighting or use the circumferential array of long-life LED bulbs for low power consumption and prolonged battery life. An adjustable micro faceted reflector always ensures the correct beam focus for any task. For detailed specifications, click here.

LED Luxeon lights employ a high flux LED Luxeon bulb

The LED Luxeon Task-Light is a pure LED light, housing one super high flux Luxeon LED bulb. Streamlight's Luxeon LED bulb is 10 times brighter than a standard high intensity LED and has the brightness and range of a conventional bulb. This high performance LED bulb has a rated lifetime of 10,000 hours. And because of LED technology, it uses significantly less power than a conventional bulb, prolonging the life of its batteries. All Task-Lights are computer machined from high grade aluminum with an anodized finish and unbreakable polycarbonate lense. Water resistant construction and O-ring seals ensure that these lights perform in all weather conditions. All Task-Lights ship with a lifetime warranty and money back guarantee.

A Brief Introduction to LED Technology

LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes are not bulbs in the traditional sense, they are a solid state electrical device which converts electrical energy directly into light of a single color. An LED bulb is made up of a reflector cup, a diode and a shaped epoxy dome lense. The diode itself is no more than 0.25mm square, or about the size of a grain of salt. The diode requires very little electricity and converts almost all of it into light.

Compare this to the traditional incandescent bulb which produces light by forcing an electric current through a fine filament wire. The current heats the filament until it glows. Approximately 15% of the energy used by an incandescent bulb actually goes into producing light while the remaining 85% is lost as heat.

Because an LED bulb is solid state and encased in epoxy, it is extremely durable. It can withstand the shock of being dropped onto a hard surface and still continue to put out light. LED bulbs also run cool because they do not use a heated wire filament to produce light, making them a good choice for certain hazardous environments

LED lighting technology has many advantages:

  • LED bulbs are virtually shock and vibration proof
  • The average life span of an LED bulb is 100,000 hours
  • LED bulbs have a stable light output over the span of their lifetime
  • LED bulbs produce more light per unit of electricity than incandescent bulbs
  • LED bulbs do not produce heat and may be safer in certain hazardous environments
  • LED bulbs allow batteries to last far longer than incandescent bulbs
  • LED lighting products can be more cost effective to own and operate
